Farm Technician

About the role

The Farm Technician will join a multi‑disciplinary research team within the Division of Agriculture to support studies that improve food safety, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. This role involves hands‑on work in both laboratory and field settings, focusing on poultry and avian research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with in‑house bird studies aimed at reducing antibiotic use and pathogenic infections.
• Support poultry litter amendment studies to lower ammonia emissions and enhance animal welfare.
• Collect, record, and manage research data from field and laboratory activities.
• Conduct fieldwork, including sample collection and environmental monitoring.
• Process biological samples and maintain accurate laboratory logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety and biosecurity protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Strong interest in agricultural research and sustainability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
