Fabrication Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Fabrication Technician to maintain, pack and inventory prefabricated modular metal soft-wall and hard-wall structures, wooden, masonry and associated equipment. The technician also performs sheet metal skin repairs to shelter equipment and repairs components of shelter and utility systems, ensuring compliance with the Performance Work Statement. The work is mainly outdoors in all weather, and the employee may be exposed to extreme climates, fumes, moving vehicles and loud noise.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, inspect, fabricate, clean, operate, maintain and reconstitute BEAR order of battle assets according to technical orders, manuals, checklists and regulations.
• Inspect, maintain and repair ferrous and non-ferrous metal prefabricated shelters, including assembly and dismantling.
• Apply sheet metal repair schemes to container skins, order and fit replacement structural components, and fabricate patches, minor panel beating and filling.
• Replace riveted nuts, cam locks, hi-loc rivets and nut plates.
• Prepare documentation (Work Orders, USAF Supply forms) and update Maximo.
• Prepare assets for air, sea or road shipment and maintain contingency plumbing facilities such as laundry, kitchen, latrines and showers.
• Fabricate and repair wooden storage and shipping containers and support related trades in sheet metal and carpentry.
• Assist in erecting BEAR shelter systems, perform temporary duty in the area of operations, and operate material handling equipment.
• Weld and fabrication functions, train coworkers, and provide accurate written repair estimates.

Required profile

• Valid home country driver's licence and ability to obtain a host nation licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust U.S. Government clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• English at a beginner level, able to read technical data, measurements and engineering drawings.
• Ability to lift 40-45 pounds frequently and occasionally more, and to work in tiring positions.

Required skills

• Preferred: Maximo experience.
• Preferred: Civil Engineering and BOB asset knowledge, or similar contingency systems.
• Material handling equipment operation.
