Engineering Manager, Tax

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team that builds and maintains Aiwyn’s tax engine – the core calculation platform that powers over a million tax returns and serves as the foundation for AI‑driven tax solutions. In this role you will partner with product, tax experts and AI partners to drive the roadmap and ensure the engine remains the most accurate and extensible solution in the market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and grow a team of engineers, conducting 1:1s, hiring and performance management.
• Define and own the tax engine product roadmap together with the product manager and senior tax professionals.
• Prioritize work, set definition of “done”, and translate strategic priorities (new jurisdictions, API integrations, AI collaborations) into actionable engineering tasks.
• Build and maintain the tooling, test infrastructure and confidence metrics that enable rapid, error‑free iteration of the tax calculation engine.
• Collaborate with AI labs (e.g., Anthropic Claude) to integrate intelligence while preserving 100 % calculation correctness.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams, preferably in fintech or tax‑technology domains.
• Strong understanding of tax calculation, compliance requirements and the need for absolute correctness.
• Ability to work closely with product managers, CPAs and external AI partners.
• Track record of delivering complex, high‑stakes systems at scale.

Required skills

• Software engineering leadership and team management.
• Experience with building calculation engines or high‑precision financial software.
• Familiarity with AI integration concepts and API development.
