Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist – IT Analytics

About the role

American Airlines is seeking a Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to join its Operations Research & Advanced Analytics (OR&AA) team within IT. You will work on high‑impact analytics projects that support pricing, revenue management, fleet optimization, crew scheduling and customer insights across the airline.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with cross‑functional teams to identify business opportunities and frame analytical problems.
• Acquire, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data from multiple sources to build robust data pipelines.
• Develop, test, and deploy machine‑learning models, including deep‑learning, computer‑vision and NLP solutions.
• Collaborate with IT engineers to integrate models into production environments and monitor their performance.
• Create interactive dashboards and reports that translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Promote data‑driven decision‑making by leading workshops, tutorials and best‑practice sharing.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with statistical modeling, machine‑learning techniques and data engineering.
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex results to non‑technical stakeholders.
