Controller – Financial Reporting & Analysis

About the role

The Controller will act as a strategic finance partner for a business unit in South Plainfield, NJ. You will oversee all financial reporting, internal controls, and analysis to support decision‑making and drive profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Manage revenue recognition for service contracts and oversee budgeting, forecasting and long‑range planning.
• Analyze performance versus budget and forecast, explaining variances and trends.
• Develop financial models for initiatives, investments and pricing strategies.
• Provide actionable insights to improve margins, cash flow and ROI.
• Support contract review, capital expenditure analysis and resource allocation decisions.
• Monitor operating expenses, headcount and capital spending, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting efficiency.
• Manage, mentor and develop finance staff and collaborate with corporate finance, accounting and FP&A teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience in multi‑branch, private‑equity‑backed or rapid‑growth environments.
• Proven ability to support project accounting, WIP reporting and recurring service revenue.
