Controller – Accounting Operations Lead

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead our accounting function in Gastonia, NC. The role combines hands‑on oversight of daily accounting activities with strategic financial planning to support senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and fixed assets.
• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant federal, state and local regulations.
• Develop, implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights for strategic decision‑making.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships and treasury functions.
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings.
• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering high performance.
• Partner with operations leaders to improve financial efficiency and cost management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or NetSuite.
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
