Controller – Accounting Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing organization in Tampa, Florida. The role provides strong financial oversight, guides day‑to‑day accounting operations, and ensures accurate reporting to support strategic business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting team, setting priorities and coaching staff.
• Manage the full accounting cycle, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and period‑end close.
• Produce timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Manage cash positioning and liquidity planning.
• Review inventory activity, identify variances, and recommend adjustments.
• Establish and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term planning.
• Coordinate workflow, monitor deliverables, and manage performance expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Minimum of 5 years leading accounting or finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and month‑end close.
• Experience with multi‑state business operations.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
