Construction Manager – K-12 School Projects

About the role
GFT is seeking a Construction Manager to lead K-12 school construction projects from our New York office. You will oversee all phases of construction, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Make decisions on project phasing, scheduling, and cost control.
- Prepare and monitor detailed schedules for planning, design, and construction.
- Coordinate with contractors, construction managers, and clients to resolve field issues.
- Develop, review, and enforce project procedures and policies.
- Work with architects/engineers on change orders, contract documents, and shop drawing approvals.
- Issue field memoranda to enforce contract compliance and address design errors early.
- Review contractor claims and advise senior management on appropriate actions.
- Visit job sites regularly to ensure compliance and progress.
Required profile
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, architecture, or a construction‑related field.
- At least 5 years of full‑time experience as a technical specialist in construction.
- Proven ability to make timely decisions and manage complex construction projects.
