Character & Soft Goods Designer

About the role

Bioworld Merchandising is seeking a creative, trend‑driven designer to develop character‑focused travel bags and accessories for globally recognized licensed brands such as Disney, Sanrio, anime, gaming and other pop‑culture properties. You will translate iconic brand stories into backpacks, totes, duffels, organizers and soft‑sided luggage that combine strong visual appeal with functional performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop soft‑goods and travel accessories from concept through production, including backpacks, duffels, totes, packing accessories and soft‑sided luggage.
• Create original character‑driven product concepts, patterned artwork, repeat prints, all‑over prints and surface designs that align with licensing standards.
• Develop graphic treatments, trims, appliqués, embroidery, patches, hardware details and branding elements.
• Produce detailed technical sketches, renderings, presentation boards and specifications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Prepare comprehensive tech packs with construction details, measurements, material callouts, colorways and factory‑ready specifications.
• Collaborate with product development, sourcing, merchandising, licensing and marketing teams throughout the development cycle.
• Research market trends, materials, trims, washes, silhouettes and competitive products within travel, fashion and licensed consumer categories.

Required profile

• Strong eye for character graphics, patterned artwork, color and storytelling.
• Understanding of soft‑goods construction, production processes and cost targets.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and meet deadlines.
• Portfolio that showcases relevant character‑driven product designs.
