Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems is seeking a motivated Buyer to support the acquisition of goods and services for our naval gas and hybrid power systems. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely, cost‑effective procurement while upholding compliance with military specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Generate CPSR‑compliant purchase orders from approved requisitions, RFPs, and bids.
• Perform tactical purchasing duties and support overall procurement activities.
• Manage supplier changes, including Engineering Change Notices.
• Communicate supplier performance and resolve issues such as pricing, quality, timing, and contract disputes.
• Assist in negotiations, applying basic commercial contract law to secure favorable terms.
• Maintain accurate vendor agreement records and procurement files.
• Track and report cost savings or avoidances.
• Serve as primary liaison between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 2 years of purchasing experience.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to read and interpret military specifications and blueprints.
• Knowledge of procurement laws, contracts, and price/cost analysis.
