Backend Developer – Cloud & Infrastructure

About the role

Nabu Casa is looking for a full‑time Backend Developer to join its Cloud & Infrastructure team. You will work on the Home Assistant Cloud services, ensuring they remain fast, reliable, and privacy‑focused for a global community of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications for Home Assistant Cloud.
• Participate in code reviews and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ship new features.
• Monitor and improve performance, quality, and responsiveness of cloud services.
• Implement security and data‑protection best practices.
• Stay current with industry trends and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• At least five years of professional backend development experience.
• Minimum two years of experience with Node.js and Typescript.
• Basic system‑administration knowledge.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Proficient with Git and GitHub.
• Based in Canada and able to work across UTC‑5 to UTC‑8 time zones.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
