Architect – Lead Design Professional

About the role

We are partnering with a leading firm in Raleigh to hire an experienced Architect who will lead complex projects from concept through construction. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, strong client engagement, and oversight of both design and technical execution.

Key responsibilities

• Leads project teams by fostering collaboration, clear communication, and strong direction.
• Works with stakeholders to define project requirements, including spatial needs, materials, specifications, budgets, and timelines.
• Coordinates design development and technical documentation for review and approval.
• Prepares detailed construction drawings and associated documentation.
• Establishes and monitors project workflows and standards.
• Oversees construction phase activities to ensure alignment with design intent and contract requirements.
• Utilizes design software to develop plans and technical drawings.
• Participates in internal and external project meetings as needed.
• Maintains clear communication across teams through regular updates and documentation.
• Reviews and guides the work of junior team members.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases.
• Maintains effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Documents project conditions and progress as required.
• Supports the development of junior staff through mentorship and feedback.

Required profile

• Prior experience on complex technical projects within a regulated environment.
• Professional degree in architecture or a related field.
• Significant industry experience, including several years in a licensed capacity with a strong portfolio.
• Professional licensure required; additional certifications are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel periodically based on project needs.
