Aircraft Guard - Part Time

About the role

Swissport, a global leader in ground handling, cargo handling and passenger services, is hiring a part-time Aircraft Guard in Las Vegas, Nevada. The guard ensures that only authorised persons and items are allowed on or near the aircraft, maintains a safe and friendly work environment and follows company culture. The position reports to the Manager of Passenger Services.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure no unauthorised persons enter the aircraft and that prohibited items or dangerous goods are not placed on board.
• Keep dangerous items away from the aircraft so they cannot harm the aircraft, ground staff, crew or passengers.
• Make sure only authorised items are removed from or placed on the aircraft.
• Collect items left on board and catalogue them if required by the airline.
• Screen people with an approved handheld metal detector or pat down, according to airline standards; pat downs are done by the same sex only.
• Check IDs of all entrants and make sure visitors are accompanied by an escort with proper airport or airline ID.
• Report suspicious activity to the airport authority, airline and Swissport management.
• Complete reports and monitor and catalogue bags loaded on the aircraft as required by the airline.
• Stand for long periods, work indoors or outdoors as assigned, and wear safety-style shoes and a uniform at all times.
• Never leave the post until relieved or authorised by a supervisor, and be available for any shift and any day.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Relevant work experience and passion for customer service.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in the local language; additional languages desirable.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and willingness to work in inclement weather.
• Available to work any shift and any day.
