Adjunct Instructor – Part‑time Teaching Position

About the role

The Department of Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a part‑time Adjunct Instructor to join its faculty for a six‑month appointment beginning July 1, 2026. This temporary, visiting position involves teaching undergraduate courses, contributing to curriculum development, and supporting student learning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality instruction for communication courses, both in‑person and, where applicable, online.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment materials aligned with department standards.
• Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and projects.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum review.

Required profile

• Graduate degree (M.A. or Ph.D.) in Communication, Media Studies, Rhetoric, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse student audiences.
