Tax Consultant

About the role

The Tax Consultant will join Elevance Health’s tax team to prepare corporate and partnership federal and state income tax returns, estimate payments, and support tax research. This hybrid position blends on‑site collaboration in Indianapolis with remote work flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations and partnerships.
• Develop GAAP and statutory income tax provisions and perform account reconciliations.
• Respond to internal and external audit requests and prepare premium and personal property tax returns.
• Maintain fixed‑asset and investment‑department tax reporting systems.
• Analyze K‑1s, manage sales and use tax systems, and handle tax information reporting.
• File state backup‑withholding returns, reconcile accounts, and process 1099 filings through the IRS e‑file system.

Required profile

• BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent education/experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in accounting, auditing, tax preparation, or related areas.
• Completion of the Tax department’s training program is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with tax software.
• Experience using the IRS e‑file system for 1099 and other filings.
• Knowledge of GAAP and statutory tax provisions.
