About the role
The Texas A&M University System Offices are seeking a Research Engineer III to join the Laser Diagnostics team at the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex. This position focuses on developing and applying laser technologies for hypersonic and directed‑energy applications.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and test laser‑diagnostic instrumentation for aerospace and defense experiments.
- Collaborate with subject‑matter experts and graduate students to advance high‑energy laser research.
- Lead experimental campaigns in the Aerospace Laboratory for Lasers, ElectroMagnetics and Optics (ALLEMO), and related facilities.
- Act as principal investigator on funded projects, preparing technical reports and publications.
- Provide expert support for aero‑optics and laser‑diagnostic testing across multiple laboratories.
Required profile
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in laser systems, high‑energy optics, or directed‑energy research.
- Ability to work independently and lead complex experimental programs.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting experimental data and troubleshooting.
