Professional Assistant Professor of Sociology

About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a Professional Assistant Professor of Sociology for a nine‑month, non‑tenure‑track appointment on its main campus in Stephenville, Texas. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, teaching undergraduate and graduate sociology courses, contributing to research, and supporting departmental service.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a range of sociology courses in‑person and, when required, through approved online modalities.
• Develop and revise curriculum to reflect current sociological research and pedagogical best practices.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participate in departmental committees, service activities, and community outreach.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as assigned.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level.
