Manufacturing Engineer, Battery Manufacturing

About the role

Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and launch of equipment for its cutting‑edge battery products. You will take large‑scale manufacturing systems from early concept through equipment launch, optimization, and hand‑over to operations teams, directly supporting battery architecture innovation for electric vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Ideate and develop concepts for battery manufacturing equipment and systems.
• Create specifications and manage the RFQ process.
• Lead vendor relationships and coordinate cross‑functional project scope with production, design, and quality teams.
• Validate and optimize processes from prototype builds to full‑volume production.
• Transition low‑volume prototypes to large‑scale production.
• Serve as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated equipment.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Required profile

• 3+ years of engineering or equivalent experience in high‑volume manufacturing.
• Proven experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment.
• Background in deploying, qualifying, and validating new processes in highly automated environments.
• Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experimental design.
• Industrial engineering concepts such as line balancing and OEE.
• Development and launch of large, highly automated manufacturing lines.
