Lecturer – Special Education (Non‑tenure‑track)

About the role

Texas A&M University–Texarkana’s Education Division seeks a non‑tenure‑track clinical faculty member to serve as a Lecturer in Special Education. The position involves teaching, mentoring, and advising undergraduate and graduate students in educator preparation programs, with a focus on special education pedagogy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in education and special education using evidence‑based instructional practices.
• Provide instruction in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online formats in line with university standards.
• Supervise teacher candidates during clinical placements, internships, residencies, and student‑teaching experiences.
• Mentor and advise students on academic progress, professional development, and certification pathways.
• Collaborate with K‑12 school partners to coordinate field experiences and ensure program alignment.
• Assess student learning and professional competencies using qualitative and quantitative data.
• Contribute to curriculum refinement, assessment review, and accreditation activities.
• Participate in service activities for the Education Division, university, and the broader profession.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (EdD, PhD, or equivalent) in special education or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience teaching special education or related courses at the college level.
• Ability to supervise and mentor teacher candidates in clinical settings.
• Commitment to data‑informed decision‑making and continuous program improvement.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
