About the role
The Internal Communications Manager reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for building transparent, consistent communication channels across the museum’s workforce. This role connects frontline staff, hybrid administrative teams, the Director’s Office, and the Board, ensuring everyone feels informed and aligned with strategic priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute an annual internal communication strategy, including staff meetings, town halls, newsletters, and Board updates.
- Maintain a centralized system for distributing information and manage the communications cascade for breaking news.
- Create guidelines for intranet postings, staff directory updates, and all staff email announcements.
- Coordinate monthly cross‑functional meetings with Governance, PR, People & Culture, and the Director’s Office to align messaging.
- Promote two‑way communication through feedback loops, sentiment surveys, and analytics.
- Explore mobile‑friendly platforms (e.g., Teams) for staff without workstation access.
- Formalize workflows for content approvals and channel maintenance.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of communications experience managing multi‑channel platforms such as intranets and newsletters.
- Proven ability to translate complex organizational goals into clear narratives.
- Experience in a museum or nonprofit environment is highly preferred.
