About the role

The Financial Aid Advisor II provides student‑focused guidance on financial aid programs, funding options, and the application process at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio. Working within the Enrollment Service Center, the advisor ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies while delivering high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one‑on‑one financial aid counseling, answer phone inquiries, and support enrollment service advisors.
• Facilitate student financial aid file reviews, assist with applications, and verify award accuracy.
• Interpret and communicate federal, state, and university financial aid regulations, student employment policies, and scholarship guidelines.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of major aid programs and ensure proper documentation of awards.
• Assist associate directors in revising and approving aid awards, processing SAP appeals, and handling professional judgment cases.
• Support internal audit controls and participate in committees related to audit, forms, technology, training, and SAP.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations and university policies.
• Ability to exercise professional judgment and make compliance‑driven decisions.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation with strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work standard office hours (Mon‑Fri 8 a.m.–5 p.m.) and occasional evenings or weekends during peak periods.
