Director, DevOps

About the role

The Director, DevOps is a hands‑on technology leader responsible for the strategy and daily execution of CI/CD, release engineering, and site reliability across Verra Mobility’s mobility portfolio. This role blends deep technical work with leadership of senior DevOps and SRE engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and contribute directly to pipelines, release automation, deployment tooling, and observability instrumentation.
• Own technical direction for CI/CD, release engineering, and SRE practices across AWS, Azure, and on‑premises workloads.
• Review designs, pull requests, and major automation changes, raising the technical bar.
• Set and enforce engineering standards such as pipeline‑as‑code, branching strategies, deployment patterns, and observability.
• Directly manage senior DevOps engineers and SREs, handling hiring, performance, growth, and compensation.
• Build a high‑trust, autonomous team culture focused on operational excellence and blameless learning.
• Manage on‑call rotation, ensuring sustainable paging volumes and thorough post‑incident follow‑up.
• Own the end‑to‑end CI/CD platform supporting hundreds of microservices, using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on technology leader comfortable working in a terminal and presenting to executives.
• Proven experience leading senior engineers in a DevOps/SRE environment.
• Ability to design complex delivery pipelines and make architectural decisions across multiple cloud and on‑prem environments.
• Commitment to operational excellence, blameless learning, and clear written communication.
