Designer I – Architectural Design

About the role

Perkins&Will’s Atlanta Studio is looking for a Designer I to join its design team. This entry‑level position supports all phases of architectural projects, helping to develop creative concepts and deliverables under the guidance of senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with schematic design, design development and construction documents.
• Conduct product research, material selections and site analysis.
• Prepare client presentation materials and visualizations.
• Participate in design reviews, charrettes and pin‑ups.
• Coordinate with partners, consultants and internal team members.
• Maintain documentation compliance according to the Project Delivery Manual.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of design experience.
• Portfolio of work submitted with application.
• Professional licensure not required; LEED Green Associate to be obtained within six months of hire.
• Curiosity about design trends and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Functional knowledge of BIM and building codes.
• Basic to intermediate Revit.
• Conceptual modeling with Rhino and Grasshopper.
• Visualization tools such as Enscape and V‑Ray.
• Sketching and physical modeling (3D printing, laser cutting).
• Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, InDesign, Photoshop.
• Environmental analysis software (Ladybug, Climate Studio).
