About the role
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) New York Liaison Office is seeking a Crime Prevention Intern to support its work on transnational organized crime, human trafficking, corruption, terrorism and drug control. The six‑month, full‑time internship offers direct exposure to UN meetings, high‑level debates and the day‑to‑day operations of a UN office.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor global developments related to UNODC’s mandate, including organized crime, terrorism and human trafficking.
- Research and draft documents, summaries, talking points, speeches, remarks and web content.
- Attend and take notes at intergovernmental meetings such as the General Assembly and Security Council.
- Assist in organizing virtual and in‑person meetings, high‑level debates and conferences.
- Create communications and advocacy materials (text, photos, flyers, speaker quotes) for online publication.
- Update the office’s information resources, manage records and key documents.
- Support the preparation of newsletters and the planning of office events.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in, or having recently completed, a graduate programme (second university degree) or the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
- Strong academic background with interest in crime prevention, criminal justice or related fields.
- Ability to work five days a week, full‑time (40 hours).
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
What we offer
- Unpaid internship with a six‑month duration, start date between 1 September and 16 November 2026.
