Construction Mechanical Supervisor

About the role

The Construction Mechanical Supervisor will oversee the mechanical aspects of new construction and major renovation projects for the Texas A&M University System. This role ensures that all mechanical work complies with contract documents, codes, and system standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers in interpreting contract documents and ensuring mechanical work conforms to specifications.
• Coordinate start‑up of mechanical systems with Project Managers.
• Conduct on‑site inspections to verify proper installation of mechanical systems.
• Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance with system standards and code requirements.
• Evaluate requests for additional mechanical work and recommend solutions.
• Prepare detailed field reports documenting conditions, instructions, and corrective actions.
• Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff on mechanical construction practices.
• Assist in selecting and coordinating testing, air‑balancing, and commissioning agents, and approve their payments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience supervising mechanical construction on institutional or large‑scale projects.
