About the role
The Assurance Experienced Associate will support audit engagements by preparing financial statements, applying GAAP, testing internal controls, and documenting audit work. This role contributes to both standard assurance engagements and agreed‑upon procedures, ensuring high‑quality deliverables for clients.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and consider applicable policies, laws, and regulations during engagements.
- Document and validate the operating effectiveness of clients’ internal control systems.
- Prepare basic financial statements with appropriate disclosures and support conclusions with authoritative literature.
- Apply GAAS and BDO audit methodology, develop audit workpapers, and flag deviations for senior review.
- Research intermediate accounting topics and form initial opinions on treatment.
- Contribute ideas and opinions to engagement teams and assist with other duties as required.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or related field (required).
- CPA certification (required) or a Master’s in Accountancy (preferred).
- At least one year of relevant experience in assurance or audit.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
- Ability to document audit procedures and assess internal controls.
- Familiarity with BDO audit manuals and methodology.
- Research and analytical skills for accounting topics.
