Assistant/Associate Professor – Civil Engineering (Geotechnical)

About the role

The College of Business, Engineering, and Technology at Texas A&M University‑Texarkana seeks a tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor in Civil Engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering. The successful candidate will help launch and grow a new civil engineering program, delivering high‑quality teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate civil engineering courses and associated laboratories, including interdisciplinary engineering classes.
• Develop and assess curricula, implement ABET assessment plans, and contribute to the creation of state‑of‑the‑art teaching and research labs.
• Advise and mentor students on academic progress and career pathways.
• Maintain an active research agenda, publish scholarly work, and secure external funding.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees.
• Engage in outreach and recruitment activities to promote the civil engineering program.

Required profile

• Earned Ph.D. in civil engineering with a concentration in geotechnical engineering from an accredited institution.
• For Associate Professor rank: minimum five years of experience as an Assistant Professor with a strong record of research.
• Eligibility to work in the United States at the time of hire; no sponsorship available.
