Assistant Professor – Mechanical Engineering (Tenure‑Track)

About the role

East Texas A&M University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering to join the Department of Engineering & Technology. The appointment begins in Fall 2026 and will be a key founding hire for the new B.S. Mechanical Engineering program, emphasizing robotics, mechatronics, and laboratory development.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including labs focused on robotics and mechatronics.
• Develop and maintain state‑of‑the‑art laboratory facilities for hands‑on student learning.
• Contribute to ABET accreditation preparation for the new program.
• Establish an active research agenda and supervise graduate and undergraduate research projects.
• Participate in departmental service, curriculum design, and outreach activities.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in robotics, mechatronics, or related areas.
• Evidence of effective teaching and a commitment to student success.
• Potential for scholarly research and external funding.
• Ability to develop curriculum and contribute to accreditation processes.
