Alcohol Operator

About the role

The Alcohol Operator works on the distillation, fermentation, and evaporation processes that convert beverage and industrial alcohol waste streams into fuel‑grade ethanol. This is an overnight position (7 pm – 7 am) on a rotating 3‑2‑2 shift in a sustainability‑focused production facility.

Key responsibilities

• Record hourly process readings and adjust liquid and steam levels for optimal operation.
• Monitor wastewater pH, perform simple laboratory tests on product samples, and log results.
• Use computer‑based monitoring tools to oversee alcohol processes and make independent, safety‑critical decisions.
• Start, monitor, and shut down the evaporation system safely.
• Attend safety meetings, submit maintenance work orders, and maintain a clean, hazard‑free work environment.
• Connect and disconnect heavy industrial hoses for load‑in/load‑out operations.
• Climb stairs and ladders to observe and test products.
• Load and unload tanker trucks, railcars, syrup trucks, totes, barrels, and kegs.
• Carry and distribute chemical bags weighing up to 50 lb.

Required profile

• Technical aptitude to learn and maintain a complex chemical process.
• Ability to work independently on an overnight rotating schedule.
• Physical capability to lift heavy items and work at heights.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
