Assistant Controller

About the role

Hayward Lumber is seeking an Assistant Controller to support its finance function. Reporting to the CFO, this full‑time position will help ensure accurate financial operations, compliance, and efficient reporting across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month‑end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and operational data.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual goal‑setting initiatives.
• Maintain internal controls, coordinate audits, and ensure tax and regulatory compliance.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial processes and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to maximize ERP system usage.

Required profile

• Strong background in accounting or finance with demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Experience managing accounting staff and overseeing multiple financial functions.
• Ability to act as a business partner, providing insights that improve operational performance.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
