Water Treatment Operator I

About the role

This non‑supervisory position is responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment at a Veolia facility. The Operator I ensures water is purified to meet permit and operational requirements while complying with EPA and Florida regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor operating conditions, meters, gauges and control panels; record data in shift logs.
• Operate automatic and semi‑automatic equipment such as pumps, valves, mixers, blowers and chemical feed systems.
• Perform field and laboratory tests (chemical, physical, biological) to adjust chemical dosages and meet permit specifications.
• Prepare chemical solutions, monitor chemical inventories and recommend reorders.
• Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, grounds and related work areas.
• Conduct minor preventive maintenance, lubrication and mechanical adjustments under supervision.
• Operate plant vehicles for operational tasks and ensure proper waste disposal.
• Follow all safety, environmental and regulatory procedures.

Required profile

• Technical aptitude with the ability to operate and troubleshoot water treatment equipment.
• Ability to follow EPA, State of Florida, and company safety and environmental standards.
• Attention to detail for recording operational data and performing lab tests.
• Willingness to perform manual labor and routine maintenance tasks.
