Technician III – Laboratory & Machining

About the role

The Bush Combat Development Complex at Texas A&M University System is seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician III. The role supports academic projects, teaching, and research operations within the Research Integration Center, providing hands‑on machining, fabrication, and CAD/CAM support.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills, lathes, water‑jet, wire EDM and welding equipment.
• Perform machining, fabrication, and precision measurement tasks.
• Design parts using CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Mastercam).
• Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications.
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and tools.
• Instruct and train students, faculty, and external users on lab procedures.
• Enter data, manage inventory, and maintain safety documentation.
• Supervise student workers and assist with planning technical operations.

Required profile

• Experience working in a STEM laboratory or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of customers and collaborators.
• Strong attention to safety and compliance with lab standards.
