SEO Technical Specialist

About the role

Join Macy’s in New York as an SEO Technical Specialist and help shape the digital presence of a historic retail brand. You will work within an in‑house SEO team to design, implement, and monitor technical SEO strategies that drive organic traffic and improve site health across multiple business units.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits covering crawling, indexing, site structure, server logs, faceted navigation, and e‑commerce specific challenges.
• Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to execute technical SEO initiatives from discovery through implementation.
• Set up monitoring systems and alerts for crawlability, site speed, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, redirects, and overall architecture.
• Develop and maintain an internal linking strategy aligned with SEO goals.
• Produce regular technical SEO reports with actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
• Provide QA support for engineering updates such as dynamic rendering, Akamai redirects, and bot management.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, SSL certificates, and modern web architecture (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Ability to stay current with Google algorithm updates and emerging search features.
• Excellent communication skills to guide product teams and deliver technical training.
