Registered Nurse – Surgical Oncology

About the role

The Surgical Oncology unit on the Upper East Side is seeking a Registered Nurse to support physicians in delivering high‑quality patient care. The RN will assist with examinations, treatments, and coordination of multidisciplinary services while maintaining accurate electronic medical records.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop nursing care plans, and prioritize care.
• Prepare equipment and assist providers during examinations, testing, and treatments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary services and arrange diagnostic tests as ordered.
• Perform inpatient diagnostic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures alongside physicians.
• Tri­age patient inquiries, communicate test results, and ensure infection‑control compliance.
• Administer injections and medications in accordance with state law and clinic guidelines.
• Educate patients and staff on pharmacology and protocol requirements.
• Participate in safety programs, staff orientation, and policy review.
• Document medical information in the EMR and support clinical research activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, preferably in surgical oncology or related setting.
• Current NY State RN license and registration.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Infection Control certification.
