Political Affairs Intern

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs is offering a Political Affairs Internship within its Science, Technology and International Security Unit. The role provides hands‑on experience in analysing emerging technologies and their impact on international peace and security.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in drafting official documents, summaries, speeches and web content.
• Monitor emerging technology trends and cross‑cutting security issues.
• Conduct research on topics such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, uncrewed aerial vehicles and autonomous weapons systems.
• Support conferences and intergovernmental meetings organized by the unit.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• No prior professional experience required.
• Strong interest in international peace, security and emerging technologies.
