Political Affairs Intern – Data Analysis & Visualization

About the role

The United Nations Operations and Crisis Centre (UNOCC) is seeking a motivated Political Affairs Intern to support its Research and Liaison Unit and Prevention Team. The internship focuses on information analysis and data visualisation to aid senior UN leadership in decision‑making across peace, security, humanitarian and development pillars.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, research and analyse quantitative and qualitative political, security, human‑rights, economic, social and humanitarian developments.
• Prepare visual slides, analytical briefs, maps and graphs for senior leadership using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Think‑Cell and GIS tools.
• Identify data sources, maintain datasets and develop indicators for analytical products.
• Support the preparation and delivery of presentations to Member States under tight deadlines.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to cross‑pillar analytical outputs.

Required profile

• Current university student or recent graduate with strong interest in political affairs, peacebuilding and data‑driven analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, multi‑cultural environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
