Intermediate Designer - Architecture

About the role

SOM is looking for an Intermediate Designer specializing in Architecture to join its collaborative design practice. You will work on distinct portions of projects, contributing innovative concepts while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable, high‑impact solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine specific project components under the guidance of project leadership.
• Produce and coordinate presentation and contract deliverables, including diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models and animations.
• Communicate ideas clearly through written, oral and visual means.
• Integrate interdisciplinary criteria to advance design development.
• Evaluate ideas constructively within the project team.
• Apply knowledge of building materials, systems, specifications, codes and construction techniques to enrich design concepts.
• Manage time and workload to meet task deadlines, interacting regularly with project leadership.

Required profile

• Demonstrated initiative, problem‑solving ability and attention to precision at a task‑specific level.
• Strong conceptual design capability with a willingness to innovate.
• Intermediate understanding of architectural technical details and construction methods.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and share knowledge with less‑experienced team members.
