Financial Accountant I – Texas A&M System Offices

About the role

The Financial Accountant I provides organization to accounting processes, reviews reports and accounts, and assists with the annual financial reporting season for the Texas A&M University System Offices and its member institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the accounting team with the Annual Financial Report (AFR) season, including preparing reports for desk reviews, supporting publication, and preparing workshop materials.
• Support centralized insurance and retirement processes by handling monthly payments to vendors and carriers, managing equity transfers, and reviewing related clearing accounts.
• Process debt service principal and interest payments for bonds and notes issued by the system.
• Organize member AFRs for desk reviews and aid in the financial statement consolidation process.
• Prepare the monthly Cash in State Treasury Report covering all system members.
• Analyze members' AFR balances monthly and generate reports to improve reporting accuracy.
• Maintain the AFR Microsoft Teams channel, update files, manage user access, and monitor the shared email folder for software access requests.
• Participate in meetings, conferences, and training sessions with management and staff.
• Review monthly transparency reports and post relevant information.
