Drill and Blast Engineer – Open Pit Planning

About the role

OceanaGold is seeking a Drill and Blast Engineer to join the Open Pit Planning Team at the Haile Gold Mine in South Carolina. The role focuses on planning, designing, and optimizing drill and blast operations to support short‑ and long‑range production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, geology, and operations to develop drill and blast plans aligned with mid‑range and life‑of‑mine targets.
• Generate drill pattern designs, blast timing, activity sequences, and schedules for short‑range plans.
• Analyze weekly, monthly and bench‑plan compliance, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Monitor pit sequencing and high‑wall compliance, providing guidance to meet overall production objectives.
• Prepare and assist with End‑of‑Month (EOM) reports for mining areas.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field.
• Relevant experience in mining, preferably with drill and blast operations.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
