Desktop Support Technician

About the role

The University of Miami’s UMIT Department is seeking a full‑time Desktop Support Technician to provide technical assistance to academic and administrative staff in Coral Gables, Florida. You will be the first point of contact for desktop and network issues, ensuring timely and professional service.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the initial contact for troubleshooting desktop, laptop, and network problems.
• Log, prioritize, and resolve help‑desk tickets while keeping senior staff informed of system status.
• Install, configure, test, and certify desktop computers, peripherals, and software drivers.
• Perform hardware moves, migrations, and decommissioning of outdated equipment.
• Verify software functionality and escalate unresolved issues.
• Maintain compliance with university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of relevant experience.
• Strong learning agility to adopt new technologies and procedures.
• Effective teamwork and clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while delivering quality customer service.
