About the role

Tarleton State University seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Department Head and Associate or Full Professor of Counseling within the School of Behavioral Sciences. This senior faculty position combines academic scholarship with administrative oversight of a CACREP‑accredited counseling program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide academic and administrative leadership for the Department of Counseling.
• Manage faculty, staff, and student affairs, ensuring high‑quality instruction and support.
• Oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and strategic initiatives for the department.
• Represent the department in university governance and external professional communities.
• Maintain and enhance CACREP accreditation standards and program outcomes.

Required profile

• Established record of scholarship and teaching in counseling at the associate or full professor level.
• Experience supervising faculty and managing academic programs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning and budget management.
• Commitment to student success and preparation for licensure as Professional Counselors.
