Classical School Teacher

About the role

The Founders Classical Academy seeks a dedicated teacher to deliver a democratic classical education using the Core Knowledge curriculum. The role involves guiding students toward intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth while fostering civic responsibility and virtue.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver lessons employing classical traditional methods.
• Assign, review, and provide timely feedback on classwork and homework.
• Administer formative and summative assessments, record results, and generate progress reports.
• Maintain a classroom environment for approximately 20‑27 students.
• Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and the broader school community.
• Interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results and state assessments.
• Participate in field trips, class trips, trainings, and other travel as required.

Required profile

• Texas State Teacher’s Certification in the subject to be taught, OR a bachelor’s degree with a passing ExCET/TExES exam, OR a bachelor’s degree with a relevant academic minor/major, OR documented relevant work experience supported by a professional recommendation.
• Passion for students and strong knowledge of the instructional academic content.
• Ability to model and teach virtue, cultivating virtuous habits in students.
• Understanding and enthusiasm for classical education and its curricula.
• Strong organizational, time‑management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data.
• Flexibility to adapt to changes and manage multiple priorities.
