About the role
The Chief Electrical Officer leads the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all shipboard electrical, automation, and control systems for Texas A&M Maritime Academy. This senior position ensures systems operate safely, meet USCG regulations, and support vessel performance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain operational reliability of critical vessel automation and safety systems, including power management and electric propulsion.
- Lead maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of high‑voltage electrical plant and associated equipment.
- Prepare systems for USCG inspections and ABS surveys.
- Support training of licensing students without compromising core duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years as an Electrical Officer or Electro‑Technical Officer.
- U.S. Regular Passport, TWIC card, and ability to obtain a USCG Merchant Mariner endorsement.
