About the role

HEI, a leading civil construction company operating across several U.S. states, is seeking an entry‑level Pipe Installer Helper to join its Dallas team. This hands‑on position supports the installation of sanitary and storm‑water pipe systems while gaining on‑the‑job training in a safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Pipe Installer and crew in installing sanitary and storm‑water pipe structures.
• Prepare pipe routes according to specifications, drawings, and supervisor directions.
• Cut, handle, and transport pipes of various sizes and materials.
• Support assembly, installation, and repair of underground pipe components and accessories.
• Align and position pipes during line construction and verify pipe slopes using levels, lasers, or other tools.
• Connect pipe sections and seal joints using approved methods and materials.
• Measure, cut, and ready pipes for installation.
• Prepare trenches, level and compact bases with hand tools and equipment.
• Backfill and cover installed pipes with soil or other materials.
• Perform general site labor as needed while maintaining a safe work environment and complying with company and OSHA safety standards.

Required profile

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
• Willingness to learn pipe‑installation techniques and trade skills.
• Capability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; prior construction experience is a plus but not required.

Required skills

• OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain it).
