Assistant Professor, Political Science

About the role

The Department of Political Science at Texas A&M University‑Texarkana invites applications for a full‑time, nine‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026. The role involves teaching undergraduate Political Science courses, developing curriculum for both on‑campus and online delivery, and contributing to the department’s research and service missions.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a 3/3 course load, including introductory government core courses and specialty Political Science classes.
• Develop and update course materials for in‑person and 8‑week online formats.
• Advise undergraduate students and support student clubs.
• Maintain an active scholarship agenda through research, conference presentations, and publications.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities and engage with the local community.

Required profile

• Doctorate (PhD) in Political Science from an accredited institution (ABD considered for Lecturer rank).
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level.
• Ability to teach both online and face‑to‑face courses.
• Experience in scholarly research and publication in Political Science.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
