About the role
The Materials Technologist I/II at the George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex supports advanced materials research for defense applications. You will operate and maintain complex furnace and manufacturing systems while applying hands‑on testing methods to evaluate thermal, mechanical, and oxidative properties of new alloys and composites.
Key responsibilities
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain high‑temperature furnaces and related manufacturing equipment.
- Conduct comprehensive materials characterization using SEM, EDS, XRD, thermal analysis, and mechanical testing.
- Develop and evaluate innovative manufacturing approaches to improve high‑temperature durability and performance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate material solutions into real‑world defense projects.
- Document test results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands‑on experience with manufacturing and experimental testing of advanced materials.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
