Senior Director, Controller

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Director, Controller to lead the core controllership functions of a fast‑growing commercial real‑estate services firm. Based in New York City, you will partner directly with the Chief Accounting Officer to drive global financial close, consolidation, technical accounting and transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the global month‑end close and consolidation process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting across all entities.
• Own close governance, including calendars, accountability, controls and technology.
• Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements, analytics and management review materials.
• Ensure consistent application of US GAAP, focusing on revenue and expense recognition.
• Guide complex accounting matters such as journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, sub‑ledger activity and purchase accounting.
• Develop technical accounting memos, position papers and maintain accounting policies.
• Partner with FP&A to align close results and deliver decision‑useful internal reporting.
• Support M&A activities, valuation, purchase accounting and integration of acquired entities.
• Oversee accounts payable, identify control improvements and drive process efficiency.
• Collaborate on automation and finance transformation initiatives to scale systems and processes.
• Monitor emerging SEC, FASB and PCAOB standards and assess impact on reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in controllership or senior accounting leadership within a complex, multi‑entity environment.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP and technical accounting.
• Proven ability to lead global finance teams and manage large‑scale transformation projects.
• Strong partnership skills with FP&A, M&A and executive leadership.
• Track record of delivering accurate, timely financial reporting.
