Remote Staff Pharmacist – Mail‑Order Specialty Pharmacy

About the role

This position is for a Staff Pharmacist working remotely in a closed‑door mail‑order specialty pharmacy. You will ensure patients receive the correct medications safely, providing clinical guidance and phone‑based counseling to patients, providers, and pharmacies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve incoming and outgoing medication orders, verifying drug, dose, strength, directions, quantity, and patient details.
• Conduct detailed prescription reviews and data quality checks for clinical accuracy and drug utilization compliance.
• Identify and document orders that fall outside FDA‑approved labeling or exceed dose maximums, ensuring proper justification.
• Oversee pharmacy technicians in medication preparation, processing, and dispensing to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
• Communicate with prescribers, provider offices, pharmacies, and members via phone to clarify orders, resolve questions, and handle refills.
• Provide patient and family education on medication use, side effects, storage, and strategies to minimize adverse events.
• Monitor drug therapies for appropriate use, potential interactions, and optimal therapeutic outcomes.
• Report adverse events and product complaints according to regulations and client requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and program guidelines, staying current with FDA updates.

Required profile

• Licensed pharmacist with a valid license in the United States.
• Experience in specialty or mail‑order pharmacy operations.
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, drug utilization review, and REMS requirements.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for phone‑based counseling and provider interaction.
• Ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians.
