Public Safety Officer Sergeant – Evergreen (Campus Security)

About the role

The Security Sergeant provides a visible, professional presence across Prairie View A&M University campuses, supervising a shift of Security Officers and ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Security Officers.
• Observe performance, enforce standards, and conduct uniform/equipment inspections.
• Prepare comprehensive monthly reports and statistics.
• Manage overtime assignments and address complaints against officers.
• Patrol residence halls and other campus areas, especially when understaffed.
• Orient, train, and schedule development for new security personnel.
• Provide security support at special events such as football games and pep rallies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced Security Officer rank with at least 18 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Successful completion of a background investigation (driving, criminal, credit).
• Willingness to travel to all PVAMU campuses as needed.
