About the role
Join the U.S. Army as a Public Health Nurse and use your nursing expertise to protect service members, their families, retirees, DoD civilians, and host‑nation communities. This position offers a unique blend of clinical care, public‑health leadership, and the chance to serve on both domestic bases and humanitarian missions.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, enforce, and enhance health and safety regulations to maintain force readiness.
- Monitor and control the spread of communicable diseases across military installations.
- Develop and implement evidence‑based public‑health programs.
- Improve existing public‑health initiatives on base and during humanitarian deployments.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing and successful NCLEX completion.
- Current, valid, unrestricted nursing license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Active RN practice in the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
- Public health RN experience meeting current RA/USAR guidance.
- U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, or I‑551 holder eligible for Active Duty or Reserve service.
Required skills
- NCLEX certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Public health nursing experience
